The wait is finally over! The 19th edition of the Indian Premier League kicks off on March 28, 2026, and it couldn’t get any bigger. The defending champions, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, are set to host the powerhouse Sunrisers Hyderabad at the iconic M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
After their historic title win in 2025, the Bengaluru fans are ready to turn the stadium into a sea of red. But standing in their way is a rejuvenated SRH side looking to spoil the party.
The Chinnaswamy pitch is world-renowned for its short boundaries and lightning-fast outfield. In 2026, the track looks hard with a hint of grass to keep the new-ball bowlers interested for the first 3 overs. However, once the ball gets old, expect a rain of sixes. Par score: 200+
As per our permanent coverage rule, here are the full squads for both teams entering the season opener:
Royal Challengers Bengaluru Squad: Faf du Plessis (c), Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar, Glenn Maxwell, Cameron Green, Dinesh Karthik, Anuj Rawat, Mahipal Lomror, Will Jacks, Suyash Prabhudessai, Manoj Bhandage, Mayank Dagar, Vijaykumar Vyshak, Akash Deep, Mohammed Siraj, Reece Topley, Himanshu Sharma, Rajan Kumar, Tom Curran, Alzarri Joseph, Yash Dayal, Saurav Chauhan.
Sunrisers Hyderabad Squad: Pat Cummins (c), Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, Aiden Markram, Heinrich Klaasen, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Abdul Samad, Glenn Phillips, Mayank Agarwal, Anmolpreet Singh, Upendra Yadav, Sanvir Singh, Shahbaz Ahmed, Wanindu Hasaranga, Marco Jansen, Washington Sundar, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mayank Markande, T. Natarajan, Umran Malik, Fazalhaq Farooqi, Jaydev Unadkat, Akash Singh, Jhathavedh Subramanyan.
While SRH has a frightening batting lineup, RCB’s confidence as defending champions and the home-ground advantage makes them slight favorites. Expect a high-scoring thriller where the team winning the toss will likely choose to bowl first to avoid the dew factor.
